Empowering Farmers with Dragon Fruit: A New Chapter for Tooro Agriculture
On April 4th, 2025, the Tooro Organic Producers Association (TOPA) hosted a landmark gathering at Travellers in Fort Portal, centered around the introduction and promotion of Dragon Fruit farming in the region. The event brought together farmers, community leaders, and agricultural enthusiasts from mid western Uganda (Kyenjojo, kabarole, Kasese, Bunyangabu ,Fort portal and Kitagwenda)with the goal of diversifying income sources and enhancing sustainable farming practices.
The event also saw the symbolic launch of Dragon Fruit farming in the region, officiated jointly by Hon. Atooko and the Western Region representative of the Uganda National Traders Alliance (UNATA).marking the beginning of a fruitful journey for Tooro farmers.
This initiative not only highlights Tooro's commitment to agricultural transformation but also underscores the vital role of unity, knowledge-sharing, and strategic partnerships in building resilient farming communities.
